Latest LMS Updates
The Hive | October 9, 2026
👋 Dear LMS Wildcat families,
This month, we kicked off Week of Respect with our counselors leading fun games and activities that reminded us how important it is to look out for one another.
We also celebrated our primary student government elections, giving students the opportunity to practice leadership and have their voices heard. Huge shout out to all of the candidates from our Blue and Gold teams. Take a look at some of the awesome posters students made to promote the postions they were running for!
As we move through October, our focus continues to be on respect—especially in the way we speak to and about one another. Kind words matter. The conversations we have with our friends, classmates, and teachers should help make our school a place where everyone feels welcome and respected. We will continue to encourage our students to think before they speak, choose words that build others up, and remember that being part of The Hive means taking care of one another.

Absences and Illness
🦠Respiratory illness and stomach virus season is here.
- Please do not send a child to school sick. They have to be fever free without any fever reducing medications, vomit and diarrhea free for 24 hours before returning to school.
😷The respiratory illness guidelines (Flu, Covid, RSV) are:
Students may return to school when:
- Individual is fever free for 24 hours without fever reducing medication AND symptoms are improving, which means the individual is no longer feeling ill and able to participate comfortably in educational and other activities as they did before they were ill.
- Any remaining symptoms, such as cough or runny nose are mild or infrequent. Individuals can then return to normal activities, but they should take additional precautions for the next five days when they are around other people indoors.
Gym/Sports Notes
🏥Gym class is a graded class. Not participating every day will result in points deducted from overall grade unless they have a doctor's note indicating excusal.
- A doctor's note must be presented
- Must be signed by the provider
- Indicate the dates the student will miss PE Class and when they can come back to P.E. Class.
🩼If a student will return to school with crutches, the doctor's note needs to state that they are able to use crutches at school.
Parents/Guardians can write an email requesting students to sit out of gym class for one day without a doctor's note, per marking period
Attendance Matters
- Good attendance is essential to student achievement and graduation
- Based on research, chronic absenteeism marks the point where students start to fall behind academically.
- The district has specific policy, regulations and procedures in place to record, monitor and track absences over time.
- Occasionally children get sick and need to stay home. What is important is getting children to school as often as possible and avoiding any unnecessary absences.
- Please communicate regularly with your child’s school staff and let them know how we can best support you and your child for a successful school year where students attend school on time every day, whenever possible.
